Typhoon season

September, a turning point in the seasons of Japan, is the start of typhoon season. When tropical low pressure storms gain momentum and break the 17 meter-per-second wind speed threshold, they are officially called typhoons. Typhoons are given numbered names, such as “Typhoon No. 17.”

It depends on the typhoon’s speed, but they usually bring rain 3 or 4 days before landfall. Periods of rain stretch endlessly before a typhoon, but once it lands the rain stops within a few hours. After a typhoon passes through, the sky is generally very sunny. The clement weather after a typhoon is called “Typhoon sunshine.
