On May 3rd, 1947, the current Constitution of Japan came into effect. To commemorate it, May 3rd was designated a national holiday. This is the day when we should reflect on the principles of the Constitution and the meaning of democracy. However most of Japanese people enjoy as Golden Week holidays.
