Most companies close (except retail stores) from today until January 4th Sunday for new year holidays in Japan.
Some people go back their home town and gathering family together, or some people go to vacation somewhere in Japan or overseas, maybe some people get relax for this holidays, like Christmas in North America.
Especially towards to end of holidays, we have ‘traffic problem’ , exact translation is ‘home-coming traffic jam’ . Public transportation – Bus, Train, Airplane – and highways are going to be so crowd. If you are planning to go somewhere first weekend in January, you can expect heavy traffic.
