Japanese Battleship Mutsu main armament is in Yokosuka today

Today Japanese Battleship Mutsu’s main armament was transferred from the Museum of Maritime Science in Tokyo to Verny Park Yokosuka for the first time in 80 years.
Mutsu was the battleship for the Imperial Japanese Navy(IJN) at the end of World War I. Japanese people loved heras Japanese power symbolism.  She was participating Battle of Midway, however she stranded by at the site and didn’t do anything to back to Japan. During WWⅡ, she didn’t work at the battle field. In 1943, she was anchored near Hiroshima area. One of her magazines detonated,sinking the ship with the loss of 1,121 crews. We still don’t know the cause of this detonation. Two third of the ship was pulled up, however One Third of the ship is still sank in under water.
